Male. 5'11". Blue eyes. Blonde hair.
The beginning is always a good place to start. Right?
I was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. Even though
I spent eighteen years waiting to get out of there, I now know Richmond was not such a bad place. By the tenth grade I realized
that I was turning into a couch potato. My remedy was to then become involved in as many extra-curricular activities as possible.
Theatre, marching band, yearbook editor, russian club, ecology club, pep club (don't ask), spanish club, etc. [Okay, I had
to break out the yearbook for this one. Memory lane can be shocking.]
Off to the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg,
Virginia, I went. I chose the school for the purpose of there obtaining a degree in Linguistics. Unfortunately, I fell two
classes short of that degree. With all the time I spent on partying, friends, road-tripping, shows, dating, and "dating", I
noticed that classes were getting in the way of my college experience. Instead, four years later I left with a degree in Theatre.
I
made technical theatre my career and linguistics and languages my main hobby. (Just take a look at all my
bookshelves and you get the idea.) I spent seven years as a Production Stage Manager for theatre and grand opera, even
joining two unions. However, I have given up theatre to move on. The bad economy, lack of jobs in my home city
of New York (was travelling too much for work), and a weakening union led me to seek a new career.
Recently, I started that new career in software localization and translation as a Project Manager here in New York.
Basically, I organize the process of taking a website, advertisement, or any documentation and converting it to "read" to
a different audience based on their language, their culture, relevant legal requirements, and any other needs. I coordinate
with clients, translators, editors, proofreaders, interpreters, desk-top publishers, and programmers so Mercedes-Benz can
sell cars to Vietnamese people or E-Trade can do internet business with that booming Haitian Creole marketbase.
